What is Broadcast List?
A broadcast list is a WhatsApp feature that sends one message to many contacts as individual chats — recipients see it as a personal message, not a group, and cannot see each other. The free WhatsApp Business app limits each list to 256 contacts and, crucially, delivers only to people who have saved your number in their phone, which silently blocks most marketing messages.
Because of the saved-number restriction, a kirana store broadcasting an offer to 200 customers may find only 40 actually received it. Businesses that outgrow this limit move to automation software or the official API, where lists can hold thousands of numbers and delivery does not depend on the customer saving your contact. Broadcast lists remain useful for small, loyal customer groups.
