The WhatsApp green tick — now shown as a blue verified badge on newer versions — is Meta's official verification mark for business accounts. It appears next to the business name and tells customers the account genuinely belongs to that brand, not an impersonator. Verification is available only on the WhatsApp Business API, never on the free app, and Meta grants it based on brand notability and clean messaging history.
For Indian businesses the tick builds instant trust: customers are far more willing to share addresses or make payments when the badge is visible. There is no official fee — Meta reviews applications submitted through a Business Solution Provider — but approval typically requires a registered business, a website, some press or directory presence, and a few weeks of good-quality API messaging without spam complaints.
