What is Contactless Ordering?

Contactless ordering means the customer browses the menu, orders and often pays entirely from their own phone, with no shared menus, no calling a waiter and no cash handling. The usual flow: scan the table QR, pick dishes, tap order, pay by UPI, and food arrives at the table. The restaurant sees the order instantly in the kitchen with table and payment status.

Hygiene drove adoption in 2020, but Indian restaurants kept contactless ordering for hard business reasons: tables turn faster because nobody waits to catch a waiter's eye, order accuracy improves, and UPI payment at order time eliminates walk-outs and cash reconciliation. It particularly suits food courts and highway restaurants where customers value speed, and tourist locations where language differences make verbal ordering awkward.
