What is Night Vision Enhancement?
Night vision enhancement is the digital improvement of dark or noisy footage so details invisible to the naked eye become distinguishable — brightening shadows, reducing the grainy noise of high-ISO recording, sharpening edges and stabilising camera shake. Simple tools just raise brightness, which also amplifies noise; AI-based enhancers go much further, reconstructing plausible detail learned from millions of low-light images and cleaning grain while preserving genuine features.
Most Indian crime footage is nighttime footage from budget cameras, so enhancement often decides whether a recording is useful: a face in a dark doorway or a plate under a flickering streetlight can move from unreadable to identifiable. The forensic caveat is critical — enhancement must be documented and reproducible, and AI-invented detail cannot be treated as fact; courts expect the original file preserved alongside every enhanced version.
