What is Static IP?
A static IP is an internet address permanently assigned to your connection, unlike the default dynamic IP that changes every time the router reconnects. With a static IP, your address today is your address next month, which means servers, CCTV systems and remote-access setups at your premises can always be reached at the same known address from anywhere.
Indian ISPs sell static IPs as an add-on, typically ₹100 to ₹500 per month for home broadband or included in business plans. Common reasons to buy one: viewing shop CCTV from home without third-party cloud services, hosting a small server, whitelisting your office IP for bank or ERP access, and running VPNs between branches. Without one, dynamic DNS services offer a partial free workaround.
